Why we chose Hotel Emma in San Antonio, Texas to celebrate 1 year of marriage.
I love Texas and everything about it. I’ve traveled to many small Texas towns prior to starting this blog that I wish I could write about… one day I will. My goal is to have a huge travel Texas guide.
Anyway, this post is about Hotel Emma in San Antonio. Joe and I wanted to have an anniversary getaway without the hassle of flying or him taking off of work. When we travel we love to eat, lounge, eat, and drink so Hotel Emma was perfect. It’s a small 146- room boutique hotel in an old brewhouse (read about the history here). The hotel has two amazing restaurants (Supper and Southerleigh), a gorgeous bar (Sternwerth), a beautiful store for coffee/booze (Larder), and the most peaceful rooftop pool. It’s nestled in the heart of the Pearl District which is full of coffee shops, live music, a food hall, and bars. There is really no need to leave.
Here are some photos of our beautiful stay (I forgot my camera so these are courtesy of my iPhone 6). All of the places we visited are linked throughout the post if you want to know more.
The Hotel Lobby + Library (we had happy hour in the library)
Our Room – The cutest lil room with floor to ceiling windows over looking the river.
The Bathroom – I DIE!
Rooftop Pool – We laid by the pool most of the day Saturday and drank the famous Hotel Emma margarita
Larder – The prettiest lil store there ever was. It’s inside of the hotel. We stopped by to buy a bottle of wine to watch the Aggies BTHO Florida Saturday night
Sternwerth – The hotel bar
Southerleigh Fine Food + Brewery – One of the two restaurants inside of Hotel Emma.
Lorraine Bakery – Lil bakery across from the hotel
Signature at La Cantera – The best for last! We had our anniversary brunch here. It’s designed by the same interior designer as Hotel Emma and I fell in L O V E. The floor to ceiling windows were open to the golf course and it was a gorgeous “fall” day.
It was the best lil Texas getaway.

Ahhhh Britt you found one of my favorite places, Hotel Emma. Russ and I try and make it there a couple of times each year since it opened. It looks like your room was in the new section of the Hotel. It’s pretty but next time ask to stay in one of the old brewery rooms. The walls are the peeling cement with pipes running through the ceiling. We like staying on the third floor, pool level. There is a sitting area on pool level that overlooks the city. I’m not sure why no one goes out there but Russ and I love having them bring us something fun to drink out there and enjoying the skyline. After seeing your pictures I think I may need to make us a reservation. LOL. Russ and used the hotels bicycles and rode to Emma’s home that is right down the street. Did any of the staff tell you the story about the Emma and her husband? Let’s just say there were one too many Emma’s in his life and one of them lost her temper over it and his wife took over operation of the brewery. Their margaritas are the best and I love the cut glass they serve them in. The whole place is eye candy for me. So dreamy. CONGRATULATIONS! on your anniversary.
Stacey! I love this place so much. It’s gorgeous. I WAS JUST DYING. Yes, we heard the story about the 3 Emmas. Those scandalous Emmas… haha
We booked our room last minute but I have seen photos of the old brewhouse rooms and I told Joe that I have got to stay in one someday. We had drinks and watched the sunset near the pool in the wooden chairs… Joe and I were shocked that we were the only ones up there. Hidden gem, 🙂
We are hoping to make it an annual trip. So gorgeous and relaxing.
Miss you!
